1988 ford tempo Ignition wire melted and stalling the car?

I have a problem with my tempo, my red/ light green ignition wire randomly burnt in half, and the car wouldn't start, I fused the two bare wires together with a 30amp fuse, drove around for about a month, and it blew the fuse one day randomly in the road, I managed to take the fuse out and connect the wires to get it into a safe spot, then I used some extra fuses I had, and fused it together again, I went down the road about a quarter mile, and the care proceeded to shut itself off again, popped the hood, and saw that it blew that fuse. The only thing going to that fuse is the red/light green ignition wire. The car runs fine when connected together, but I don't want to run it without a fuse till I get the problem fixed because I don't want the whole harness catching fire and totaling my car. It might be grounding out somewhere, but I have no idea where to look, If anyone knows why it's melting please let me know, thanks.
